Short answer. EI30 means a tested assembly kept both integrity and insulation for at least 30 minutes. It does not mean any glass with the label is EI30, and it does not rate the wall or frame.

What EI30 means

E: flames and hot gases did not pass through during the test.

I: the temperature on the unexposed side stayed within set limits during the test.

30: the minimum time in minutes.

Where EI30 is used

EI30 is commonly used for shorter fire-resistance requirements, such as internal partitions, doors and screens where the required rating is 30 minutes. The requirement comes from your building code and the fire strategy for the building, so confirm it before specifying.

When to choose a higher rating

If the wall or door is required to reach 60 minutes or more, choose EI60 or higher. For escape routes, check the required duration in your local code and choose a rating that meets it with the complete assembly.

For the ratings we supply and the reported test results, see EI fire-rated glass. Send your requirements for a written specification.
