Engineer's Choice - Fireproof Glass Curtain Wall

As part of the building's exterior facade, the fire-resistant glass curtain wall needs to have certain impact resistance and be able to withstand wind pressure and the impact of foreign objects. Therefore, when selecting materials, glass materials with higher impact resistance should be selected.

Fire-resistant glass curtain wall is a non-combustible wall composed of fire-resistant glass, fire-resistant steel frame, fire-resistant hardware and fire-resistant sealing materials. It can effectively control the time when a building fire spreads to adjacent areas, and the fire-resistant time is not less than that required by fire regulations. 

Requirements for fire-resistant glass curtain walls:

1. Flame spread performance:

Fire-resistant glass curtain walls should use glass materials with low flame spread performance that meet national standards. Commonly used material selection criteria include optical glass transmission performance, refractive index, impact resistance, UV resistance, etc.

2. Thermal insulation performance:

Fire-resistant glass curtain walls should have good thermal insulation properties to reduce the rate of fire spread caused by heat transfer when a fire occurs. The material should have low thermal conductivity and good thermal insulation properties

3. UV resistance:

Fire-resistant glass curtain walls need to be exposed to sunlight for a long time, so they should have high UV resistance to improve their service life and appearance quality.

4. Smoke isolation:

When a fire occurs, it can prevent the smoke generated by the fire from passing from the side affected by the fire to the side facing away from the fire. This is the most basic requirement to reasonably and effectively block the smoke generated by fire, avoid the formation of chimney effect, effectively control the spread of fire, and ensure the safety of evacuation channels and refuges.
