Composite Grouting Fireproof Glass: Structure, Characteristics And Advantages

Composite grouting fireproof glass is a specialized type of fire-resistant glass designed to provide both integrity and insulation during a fire. It consists of two or more layers of glass with a transparent fire-retardant liquid sealed between them. Upon exposure to high temperatures, this liquid expands into an opaque, insulating layer that prevents the transfer of flames and heat.

Construction principle: synergistic effect of multi-layer structure and fire retardant liquid

Composite grouting fireproof glass is composed of two to three layers of glass original sheets, and its core technology lies in the high-transparency fireproof liquid injected into the middle layer. The specific structure is as follows:

  • Basic structure:

Glass original sheet: usually float glass or high-strength single-piece fireproof glass is used, and the multi-layer glass is fixed around by a double-pass sealing process (flame-retardant rubber strip) to form a sealed cavity.

Fireproof liquid injection: Inorganic or organic fireproof liquid (such as sodium silicate, phosphate, etc.) is injected into the cavity, and a transparent gelatinous layer is formed after solidification. In the event of a fire, the fireproof liquid expands and foams due to heat, and is converted into a white heat-insulating barrier.

  • Classification and fire resistance level:

Level I: Fire resistance for 90 minutes, suitable for areas with high fire protection requirements (such as escape passages).

Level II: Fire resistance for 60 minutes, commonly seen in shopping mall partitions and machine rooms.

Level III: Fire resistance for 45 minutes, mostly used for ordinary fireproof doors and windows.

If a longer fire resistance time is required, it can be achieved by increasing the glass thickness or optimizing the fire retardant liquid formula.

Core features: fire resistance, heat insulation and versatility

  • Excellent fire resistance:

When a fire occurs, the fire retardant liquid quickly absorbs heat and expands to form an insulation layer, effectively blocking the spread of flames, smoke and high-temperature toxic gases, while reducing the temperature of the back-fire surface and protecting the safety of the escape route.

Passed the national standard GB15763.1-2009 certification, meeting the dual standards of fire resistance integrity and heat insulation.

  • Multifunctional adaptability:

Sound insulation and noise reduction: The middle glue layer can significantly reduce environmental noise, suitable for noisy places such as airports and subway stations.

Combination design: It can be combined with Low-E glass and hollow glass to form a composite product with both energy-saving and fire-proof functions.

Special-shaped processing: Supports arc and curved surface design to meet the needs of architectural aesthetics.

  • Usage restrictions and precautions:

Weak impact resistance: The middle glue layer is soft, and large-size panels need to thicken the glass or use high-strength original sheets (such as borosilicate glass) to improve strength.

Installation requirements: A dedicated sealing frame must be used to reserve expansion space to avoid hard contact; it is not suitable for exterior windows that are exposed to direct sunlight for a long time to prevent aging and discoloration of the adhesive layer.

Market advantages: safety, environmental protection and wide application

  • Outstanding safety performance:

Compared with ordinary tempered glass, composite grouting fireproof glass remains intact in fire, preventing secondary damage, especially suitable for crowded places (such as shopping malls and hospitals).

Inorganic grouting products are highly weather-resistant, anti-aging, non-bubbling and have a long service life.

  • Wide application scenarios:

Building fire protection system: fireproof partitions, fireproof doors/windows, atrium fire barriers, etc.

Special needs: fireproof floors, skylights, escape stairs, etc., suitable for a variety of building structures.

  • Environmental protection and economic benefits:

Using inorganic fireproof liquid, non-toxic and harmless, in line with green building standards.

Long life and low maintenance cost, reducing the cost of the entire construction cycle.
